Conclusion
In the beginning, if we had guessed where this kit would fall in the benchmarks, we would have predicted that it would be between the HyperX Fury and the HyperX Savage performance wise. However this prediction proved to be incorrect.  The Patriot Viper 4 2800MHz Dual Channel memory kit was a bit of a surprise in our extensive testing. In all the tests we ran, it was at or near the top.  It even beat the venerable Kingston HyperX Savage 3000 kit in several of the benchmarks.
Another feature of the Patriot Viper 4 that we were impressed by is the ease of installation and configuring the memory kit. Typically you find yourself having to make adjustments to get the memory to run properly at its advertised speeds.  However with the Patriot Viper 4 kit all you need to do is go into the BIOS of your system and simply enable XMP profile 1 and it automatically changes all the memory settings within the BIOS to enable all the settings needed to run at the 2800MHz default setting.
With computers and building them, performance always comes at a price; sometimes this advantage comes at a steep price. However the Patriot Viper 4 2800MHz kit comes in at a modest $120.99 price point. Considering the test results we achieved during the benchmarking, we would gladly invest the little extra to put it in our new Z170 system. Besides the physical product when you purchase this memory kit, you also get Patriot’s amazing customer service and warranty.
Overall we were extremely pleased with all aspects of the Patriot Viper 4 2800MHz. We were especially amazed with the performance numbers that we achieved. We are amazed that this kit is affordable as it is at only and yet offers this level of performance and we would recommend it to any user who is looking for a rock solid memory kit and award it the Bjorn3D Seal of Approval
