When Nvidia release the RTX2080/2080 Ti in September 2018 it delivered cards that were a bit faster than the cards of the previous generation while more expensive. Our reviewer at that time felt that the added new features still made the cards worth a high mark although there were a lot of opposition to this from readers. With cards like the RTX2080 Super, the RTX2070 Super, the RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 Nvidia did manage to improve the value of the RTX-series and offer great cards at all price points.
I think a lot of people expected Nvidia to pull something similar off with the RTX30 -series but so far what we’ve got is far more appealing. Today I am reviewing the Gigabyte RTX 3080 Eagle OC. As the name implies this is a factory overclocked RTX3080 that also comes with the Windforce E 3X Cooling System with alternate spinning fans.
Gigabyte has a no less than 6 different RTX3080-models and this is one of the “cheapest” at $699 (although that will go up a bit after a period as this is a initial offering during launch) – same as the Nvidia RTX3080 FE.
