The King is Dead, Long Live the King! – Ryzen 3900X & Ryzen 3700X Review

Ryzen 3900X

First up is the top dog of the Ryzen 3000 lineup,l the Ryzen 9 3900X. It is a 12 core part with 24 usable threads. Yes, AMD did announce a 16 core part as well, the Ryzen 9 3950X, but that does not come out till later, so the 3900X is top for now.

If you have seen Ryzen CPU boxes previously, there is not much different here except the exterior aesthetic. The box notates that the Ryzen 9 CPU comes with an included Wraith Prism cooler which to be fair is a pretty potent cooler in its own right.

Here we have the Wraith Prism cooler which comes with both the 3900X and the 3700X we have today. We will not be using the air cooler though as we will be water cooling the Ryzen 3000 and the 9900K with 360mm based liquid cooling model Eisbaer LT 360 from Alphacool.

Here is the beats, all 12 cores dual CCX setup and IO die are hidden beneath that all too familiar Ryzen heat spreader.

Now lest check out the 8-core part.
