Test Rig
For the test platform we went with the Intel 6700K on the Asus Maximus VIII Extreme with Kingston HyperX Savage running at 3000MHz CL 15. We are running a EKWB Triple Radiator cooling solution on the CPU to make sure we don’t get any throttling on the CPU. The operating system is Windows 10 with updates fully installed then disabled. We make three runs at each test then average those three runs and report the results here. If we hit a run that we consider to be to far away from the norm we dismiss that result and run a 4th test. While the 6700K is imminently overclockable we are running tests at 4.5 GHz and a triple radiator to keep it from throttling. Once you reach the kinds of speed the 6700K generates overclocking is an afterthought and an afterthought that really isn’t needed. Since the enthusiast community generally OC’s we went ahead and ran testing on all the cards with the same OC. We want to see Polaris and the HIS RX 480 IceQ X2 Roaring Turbo 8GB perform as intended and with our extreme cooling solution it’s easy to surpass speeds attainable by readers.

I’ve been trying to find the length of this card but can’t see it anywhere online (even the manufacturer’s official site!). Could you guys include that info in the “Closer Look”? Would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Brendan
