Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider
Now we’re getting into the territory of a game more optimized for the higher performance GPUs. Rise of the Tomb Raider is an awesome game and part of a long lasting franchise. It is a little older as Shadow of the Tomb Raider just launched but it still deserves to be included.
Rise of the Tomb Raider gives us some great results for the new SUPER cards as the RTX 2070 SUPER jumps just ahead of the RTX 2080 in both 1080p and 1440p, while being within the margin for error (1FPS) lower than the RTX 2080 at 4K. The RTX 2060 SUPER shows a similar jump surpassing the RTX 2070 at both 1080p and 1440p while faltering a mere 1FPS to the RTX 2070.
Far Cry has been a great series of games and the newest takes on a cult-like group in the rural USA. This entry into the Far Cry franchise has some great visuals and can definitely put your GPU to work being a much newer game.
Far Cry 5 shows more of the same here. But as we have seen trending while the RTX 2070 SUPER gets some nice gains, the RTX 2060 SUPER seems to be a major winner thus far in this round as its right on the heels of the RTX 2070 while the RTX 2070 SUPER has a decent gap between it and the RTX 2080. Now, this is not necessarily unexpected as from the onset, the gap between the RTX 2070 and 2080 was quite wide whereas the RTX 2060 and 2070 was a bit closer. However, it is worth mentioning that the RTX 2060 SUPER really does feel like a much faster card and with its extra memory and pipeline, it shows in the charts as well.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is an awesome squad-based shooter which has tons of varying terrain, vehicle play and plenty of eye candy via explosions and particle effects to make your GPU cry.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the last of our gaming tests, and the reason we include it is it is pure torture for GPUs. here we see more of the same yet again, which is why we will not drag out into even more games as the scaling is quite similar across all titles at this point.
From what I can see from real gaming testing, the RTX 2070 SUPER is set to displace the RTX 2080 as it’s within minor percentage below the RTX 2080 FE in most cases. While the RTX 2060 SUPER looks like it is slotted to replace the RTX 2070 FE as it is right at the performance level of the 2070 FE.
Now let’s see what kind of overclocking headroom Nvidia left on the table.
