EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0

Testing Rig & Setup

For the test platform we went with the Intel 6700K on the Asus Maximus VIII Extreme with Kingston HyperX Savage running at 3000MHz CL 15. We are running a EKWB Triple Radiator cooling solution on the CPU to make sure we don’t get any throttling on the CPU. The operating system is Windows 10 with updates disabled. We make three runs at each test then average those three runs and report the results here. If we hit a run that we consider to be to far away from the norm we dismiss that result and run a 4th test. While the 6700K is imminently overclockable we are running tests at 4.5 GHz and a triple radiator to keep it from throttling. Once you reach the kinds of speed the 6700K generates overclocking is an afterthought and an afterthought that really isn’t needed but since the enthusiast community generally OC’s we went ahead and ran testing on all the cards with the same OC. We want to see Pascal and the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 perform as intended and with our extreme cooling solution it’s easy to surpass speeds attainable by readers.

As with all new generations of Video cards releases we went back and retested the GPU’s looking for driver and game enhancements to frame rates. All the GPU’s were newly tested with the appropriate drivers.

  1. 9.9/10? is one of yall missing a pinky or something?

  2. Uh oh, page 4 has a typo causing the Motherboard’s Amazon link to be dead.

  3. You make a little mistake at the length. The value is not 167mm but probably 267mm like you wrote beforce.

    • Sorry for the “beforce” I’m not an english-speaker and I don’t understand why “You make a little mistake” is funny, can you explain ?

  4. EVGA just confirmed the black screen issue of 1080FTW, consider to re-evaluate?

  6. lol bad caps, exploding VRMs, having to do modification to your card yourself, i think this article should not just be reevaluated, it should be removed and replaced something that resembles the truth!

    • skarsi, you dont have to do it yourself. If you tell them you don’t want to do it yourself, they will send you a new one already done, and when you get the new one, just send them the old one back. I did mine, because I wanted to see the inner workings and take it apart. If I broke it, they would still send me a new one, per their c.s.r. They took responsibility for what their cards were doing, and get an A++++ from me. Where else can you go where they tell you that yeah it’s under warranty, if you want to take it apart and fix it yourself, we will send you all the supplies, but dont worry, if you mess it up, we will send you a new modded card?
