Nvidia Releases The Beast – Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Review

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider

Now we’re getting into the territory of a game more optimized for the higher performance GPUs. Rise of the Tomb Raider is an awesome game and part of a long lasting franchise. It is a little older as Shadow of the Tomb Raider just launched but it still deserves to be included.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was interesting as we had to retest every Turing based GPU since the newest Nvidia driver gave bumps in performance between 2 – 10% which changed the chart up quite a bit. We see the RTX 2080 SUPER is right at the heels of the TITAN V here with the 1080p score beating the TITAN V but  alas the two higher resolutions the TITAN V edged ahead of the RTX 2080 SUPER once again.

Far Cry has been a great series of games and the newest takes on a cult-like group in the rural USA. This entry into the Far Cry franchise has some great visuals and can definitely put your GPU to work being a much newer game.

Far Cry 5 shows more of the same here. The RTX 2080 SUPER delivers TITAN Xp defeating performance at 4K. Dropping to 1440p we see the TITAN Xp edge past the 2080 SUPER. Move it to HD 1080p and we see the 1080 Ti creep past while the TITAN V actually drops below the 2080 SUPER. It seems that the claim of 1080p bottlenecking the TU102 and TU104 based GPUs is still holding true. Unfortunately, the 1080p results are simply not a great measure unless we were to use it for CPU testing, otherwise, these flagship or top-level cards simply have enough horsepower that the CPU/platform cannot keep up with feeding them.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is an awesome squad-based shooter which has tons of varying terrain, vehicle play and plenty of eye candy via explosions and particle effects to make your GPU cry.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the last of our gaming tests, and the reason we include it is it is pure torture for GPUs. here we see the 2080 SUPER take a lead not only over the TITAN Xp across the board but also edging out the TITAN V at 1080p and 1440p, while the TITAN V edges ahead again at 4K.

Now I think its time to see if Nvidia left any fuel in the tank for the RTX 2080 SUPER. lets get to overclocking!
