Our Final Thoughts
ASUSÂ has had an awesome delivery and support for the X99 platform since its birth. As for scaling of models and features IÂ feel like they have developed a pretty massive array of boards at this point to meet most every user out there.
Speaking of matching users this is where I have a struggle as the WS board as its name implies it is a workstation board at heart meant for high end server or heavy render duties with very high up times.
The price point at a little over 500 dollars places it in the upper most region of pricing for a consumer board and so only the uber enthusiasts or those looking to do heavy render work will likely apply here. If you are building a gaming rig with just a couple cards there are plenty of options at a lower price point that will do the job without issue and may even have some better gaming features for you.
That being said the WS is not just a rock solid board but an obscenely rock solid board with MTBF that dreams are made of and compatibility that can match better than the best out there.
Should you buy this board, well if your looking for the capability to run 4 way cards at full x16 then do it now or if your a content creator than this board will easily do that job without question and will keep doing it for the foreseeable future.
The X99-E WS is well deserving of the Bjorn3D Golden Bear Award and a masterpiece of high end hardware simply waiting for the right user to put its true potential to work.
