Shadow Of The Tomb Raider
Now we’re getting into the territory of a game more optimized for the higher performance GPUs. Rise of the Tomb Raider is an excellent game and part of a long-lasting franchise. It is a little older as Shadow of the Tomb Raider just launched, but it still deserves to be included.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider was interesting as we had to retest every Turing based GPU since the newest Nvidia driver gave bumps in performance between 2 – 10%, which changed the chart up quite a bit. We see the RTX 2080 SUPER is right at the heels of the TITAN V here with the 1080p score beating the TITAN V but alas the two higher resolutions the TITAN V edged ahead of the RTX 2080 SUPER once again.
Far Cry 5
Far Cry has been a great series of games, and the newest take on a cult-like group in the rural USA. This entry into the Far Cry franchise has some great visuals and can put your GPU to work, as it is a much newer game.
Far Cry 5 shows more of the same here. The ASUS RTX 2080 Ti at 4K shows 7% over the 2080 Ti FE model, however, do note that at the top end of Nvidias GPU stack, the cards get bottlenecked below 4K, which is why in gaming tests you wills ee the framerates bunch up as the GPU can be left waiting on the platform to feed the GPU frames to render.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Wolfenstein Youngblood is a newer title for our benchmark suite. While it is a visually beautiful game, I man happy to see that with RTX disabled for comparison, and we can pull numbers deserving of a high refresh rate display. The ASUS RTX 2080 Ti takes a commanding lead here at 4K. as we have observed, pulling a 4% lead over the TITAN RTX and 7% over the FE 2080 Ti.
World War Z
World War Z runs in Vulkan API, which means you will see quit high FPS numbers, but at 4K, we get some delineation with 2% gain over the FE model; however, the TITAN RTX takes the top spot here again. Unfortunately for the lower resolutions, we see the bottlenecking rear its ugly head again.,
Division 2
Division 2 is the last of the newer benchmark games we have added to our suite, and once again, the ASUS 2080 Ti jumps ahead. Much like we will see in Wildlands, they seem to be very stressful and show identical scaling at all three tested resolutions.
Ghost Recon – Wildlands
Ghost Recon Wildlands is an excellent squad-based shooter that has tons of varying terrain, vehicle play, and plenty of eye candy via explosions and particle effects to make your GPU cry.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the last of our gaming tests, and the reason we include it is it is pure torture for GPUs. With Ghost Recon Wildlands, we see that once again, the ASUS RTX 2080 Tiu is a chart-topper. Wildlands is so stressful that even at lower resolutions, we can see scaling of the GPU mirroring what we see at 4K.
Now with all of that behind us, let’s see what kind of headroom ASUS has with the STRIX RTX 2080 Ti White Edition.
