Seagate launches NAS HDD 8TB for the small business, personal cloud, and the NAS drive. The drive is specifically designed for one to eight bay NAS devices and RAID applications. The 8TB drive is the largest capacity NAS drive on the market.
The 8TB drive comes in 3.5 inch form factor. it is based on six perpendicular magnetic recording platter, each with 1.33 TB of storage capacity. The drive comes with 256 MB DRAM cache and supports SATA 6 Gbps interface. It spins at 7,200 RPM with rated idle power of 7.2W and average operating power of 9W. The drive’s sustain transfer rate is rated at 216 MB/s like the previous 6TB drives.
Since the drive is designed for 24/7 operation, it is rated with 180TB/year workload rate limit. The drive features dual-plane balance to enhance drive’s performance in aggressive workloads for better vibration tolerance.
