QNAP continues to deliver high performance NAS with the latest addition, the Turbo vNAS TVS-871T, to the NAS family. The TVS-871T combines direct attached storage (DAS), network attached storage (NAS), and iSCSI-SAN into one. What makes the TVS-871T unique is the inclusion of the Thunderbolt 2 that delivers 20 Gbps bandwidth for high IO intensive tasks such as 4K content and 3D workflow. The NAS is compatible with QNAP’s own Thunderbolt-ready storage expansion enclosure, TX-500P and TX-800P.
The TVS-871T is a 8 bay unit that is powered with either Intel Core i5 4590S or i7 4790S processor. Both processors are quad-core where the difference lies on the clockspeed which the i5 is clocked at 3.0GHz (Turbo 3.7GHz) whereas the i7 is clocked at 200MHz higher (4.0GHz Turbo). The i7 model also supports hyperthreading which i5 lacks. Not only that the unit comes with two Thunderbolt 2, it will also has dual 10GbE port which can be used simultaneously in conjunction with the Thunderbolt 2 network. It will come with 16GB DDR3 RAM.
