Our Final Thoughts
ASUS set out to make the best OC board out there and with its capability to push the limits I must say they got a damn good result, as new BIOS roll out I think some of the efficiencies could get better as we saw that on longer tests it was losing ground but overall straight out of the box the board clocks extremely well and does what we expect.
The features as always on ROG boards are super strong and ASUS really stepped it up on OC features to make for a better experience but also on the regular user side as well with super high speed connectivity and overall software features such as Keybot I see this board as not just being a benchmark brawler but a possible high end gamer as well although admittedly this is quite a huge amount overkill if you’re just putting it to work as a gaming rig.
Value is something that is always hard to justify when it comes to the extreme OC boards as its really a measure of the sum of the parts and value can only be described as how much value each feature has to each user. so to make it simple for some users this will be a really good value whereas there are plenty of gamers who would be just fine running an ASUS X99 Deluxe or other board as it better fits their usage needs.
For Overclockers looking for one of the best entries with insane amounts of overclocking support on the ROG forums which are regularly visited by the ASUS team then the Rampage V Extreme is for you it has proven its capability to clock to the stars and back but just understand you pay for that capability.
