Our Final Thoughts
MSI came to hit a home run with the Gaming 9 but I feel more like it’s a ground rule double. The Gaming 9 performs really well in some areas but feels like its tuning was just not 100%, and I hope MSI jumps on this and pulls of a update to the BIOS that redeems everything im saying here as I have seen great performance from MSI boards before. As we all know the X99 launch was rushed ahead which left board partners scrambling to the ready to have something for launch thats why I’m a little apprehensive to scold any one board for lackluster performance in a certain area as I see them struggling just to get them in time.
The feature set of the Gaming 9 is strong and with such a unique partnership with Avermedia to make that Streaming engine installation a reality holds real promise for streamers and also a reaffirmed belief in MSIs dedication to gaming as their target market. They see a need and growing streaming community so they find a unique way to give them a special feature on a top end board to make their life easier.
I look forward to testing the streaming engine feature out once I figure out some time past this rushed X99 launch where I can set it up and give it a go both with the card installed and without to see the difference in system loading.
To round this up here I think the Gaming 9 is a great gaming board, albeit the pruce is a bit high due to some of the hardware features included on the board but if you have a need for this high end gaming gear this board would be a great pickup and I really cannot wait to see how this board matures as the BIOS team gets it up to its full potential.
